Experience

To advise a client properly a lawyer must have “been there” and “done that”.  Our lawyers have a combined half century of experience solely in family law.   It is hard to imagine an issue remains that we have not tried in front of the Family Court Judges of the Eighth Judicial District Court.  Our experience in those cases allow us to educate our clients as to what is likely to happen in Court rather than merely informing them of what the law states.  Our two associate attorneys, Michael Carman and James Davis, are former judicial law clerks who learned the inner workings of the family court before bringing this knowledge to Kunin & Jones for the benefit of our clients.  From Kunin to Jones to Carman to Davis our clients receive the insight of knowing, not guessing what the Court is likely to do on any issue.

Specialization

We practice only Family Law and family related areas of the law.  We believe that to truly excel at one’s profession, one must specialize.  Our office is located where it is located because we are steps from the Family Court.  We “live” near Family Court because we live for Family Law.  The lawyers of Kunin & Jones have made a choice to do one thing and to do it exceptionally well.  Because of this commitment to our one practice area, our clients receive masters of one trade and not a jack of many.

Passion

We specialize in Family Law because we have a concerted desire to help clients at the most difficult times of their lives.  Whether it is a divorce, a need for a guardianship of a loved one, an adoption, an estate administration or a child custody matter, these are the issues for which we exist.  We zealously advocate our clients’ positions because we have chosen this area of the law for a reason.  The reason for our professional existence is to help and, in some cases, save families when they need it most.

Compassion

All areas of our practice involve one of the most important things to every human being: family.  The areas of the law in which we practice necessarily involve emotion.  We recognize what is important to our clients.  We will not, however, allow emotions to dominate the decisions our clients make.  One of our most effective skills, when representing clients who are going through the most emotional times of their lives, is to redirect the potentially negative emotional energy into positive ways which will help resolve the legal issues for which we have been retained.  Our greatest compassion is to recognize the emotions our clients experience while still maintaining a big picture mentality and achieving positive results, whether it be through settlement or trial.
